Matthew Klink, President of the International Association of Political Consultants (IAPC) issued the following statement in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“We join the global community in condemning Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine. Ukraine’s nascent democracy is the victim of unprovoked Russian action. They should cease this destructive action and immediately restore the democratically elected government and the illegally seized territory.
“For more than 54 years, IPAC members have promoted democracy around the world. We are distressed to see an authoritarian government, in this case Russia, attempting to overthrow the democratically elected government of Ukraine.
“Democratic governments around the world must come to the aid of another democracy. We are seeing increasing attacks on democracy around the world, and Russia’s actions only embolden other dictators and despots. The free and democratic nations of the world must resist such a brazen assault on democracy.
“IAPC stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and offers its support for the restoration of the democratically elected government of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Founded in 1968, the International Association of Political Consultants is committed to promoting democracy and the democratic process throughout the world. Members cover a variety of political backgrounds and activities promoting the growing and diverse profession of political advice as well as the practical aspects of democratic elections.
Please note: IPAC members are available for comment on the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
