Referring to the August virtual meeting of 19 political parties hosted by Sonia Gandhi, Rajya Sabha’s Congresswoman KC Venugopal on Monday, September 20, urged “like-minded” opposition parties to protest against the Center on the issues discussed at the meeting. In a letter, the secretary general of the Congress party said the opposition is to organize a demonstration from September 20 to 30 across the country.

KC Venugopal’s letter read: “As you know, the leaders of 19 opposition parties gathered in a virtual meeting on August 20, 2021 and discussed and deliberated on pressing issues affecting the life of the common man. and the apathetic attitude of his incompetent BJP government. He said, “At this meeting, it was decided that all like-minded parties will jointly organize protests / dharnas to reiterate the demands of the opposition to the government, as well as to urge the Indian people throughout the country of September 20 to 30, 2021, to come out in large numbers to defend our sovereign, secular, socialist and democratic rights with all our might “.

Further calling on the opposition to protest the issues in their respective state or Union territory within a proposed timeline, the letter read: “It is also requested to ensure that the protest must involve our senior citizens. leaders, MPs, MPs, DCCS / BCCS, frontal organizations and individuals from all walks of life, with due caution when it comes to guidelines for appropriate behavior and social distancing from COVID-19 “.
