Ex-Punjabi CM Amarinder Singh set to launch new political party today

The former chief minister of the Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, is expected to launch his new political party on Wednesday. Captain Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral tweeted about a press conference to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

“Former Punjab CM @capt_amainder will deliver a press conference in Chandigarh tomorrow (Wednesday, October 27) at 11 am The event will be webcast live on his Facebook page. Log in,” Thukral wrote on Twitter.

Last week, Singh said he would start his own party and hoped for a seat deal with the BJP on the condition that the ongoing agitations by farmers against farm laws were resolved in their best interests.

Singh’s statement came just months before the Punjab Assembly elections.

Recently, the two-time former chief minister faced an unceremonious exit from the Punjab government. He resigned due to a bitter power struggle with Sidhu from the leader of the Punjabi Congress, Navjot Singh. He then declared that he would not rest until he secured the future of “my people and my state”.

Singh called Sidhu “anti-national” and “dangerous”, saying he would pit a strong candidate against the head of state party in the next assembly ballots.

Congress replaced Singh with Charanjit Singh Channi.

However, CM Singh’s decision to form a new political party has come under heavy criticism from current congress leaders, including Sidhu’s wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu.

Amarinder Singh has never been off his farm for the past four and a half years, and now he’s suddenly talking about having a party, she claimed.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu further said that Amarinder Sigh had already thrown a party and could have worked for the past four years.

Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, however, said on Tuesday that if Amarinder Singh started a new party, he would be making a “big mistake”.

Randhawa attacked Amarinder Singh for his friendship with Pakistani journalist Aroosa Alam. He even went so far as to say that an investigation would be carried out to verify whether Alam had any links with the Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Subsequently, Singh shared Alam’s photos with politicians and actors on his Facebook page. He posted alleged photos of Aroosa Alam with former Union ministers Sushma Swaraj Yashwant Sinha, Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, actors Shatrughan Sinha , Dilip Kumar, director Mahesh Bhatt and a few other dignitaries. “I am posting a series of photos of Ms. Aroosa Alam with various dignitaries. I guess they’re all ISI contacts too. Those who say so should think before they speak, ”said Amarinder Singh.
