Eknath Shinde eyes MVA alliance; “The association with someone related to Dawood was not expected”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in an exclusive interaction with Republic TV said the people of Maharashtra do not expect a minister associated with Uddhav Thackeray’s government to have links with Dawood Ibrahim, who carried out bombings in Mumbai.
Nawab Malik of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) who is currently in jail in a case regarding violation of the Money Laundering Act after ED alleged he usurped prime property in Kurla worth Rs 300 crore in connivance with Dawood’s sister, Haseena Parkar.
The new head of Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde said: “Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister. Mumbai – those connected with it, would find no association.”
Nawab Malik arrested in a money laundering case
The Directorate of Law Enforcement (ED) arrested Malik on February 23, alleging that the minister violated the provisions of the PMLA. ED alleged that Nawab Malik usurped prime property in Kurla worth Rs 300 crore through Solidus Investments Pvt. ltd. – a company allegedly owned by members of his family and it was done in collusion with Dawood’s sister, Haseena Parkar, his bodyguard Salim Patel and the 1993 bombings, convict Sardar Shah Wali Khan.
In a striking observation, the PMLA Special Tribunal found that there are credible grounds to believe the charges are well-founded under the PMLA.
