Wang Yang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), urged all political advisers to deepen their understanding of the achievements of the times, improve political understanding of the Chinese Communist Party’s theories, and assume the responsibility to unite the wisdom and strength of all Chinese people, including those residing overseas, at the closing meeting of the fifth session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee on Thursday.

Advisors may have different points of view on certain topics, but they must not be ambiguous in their political position, must respect political principles and must not deviate from good political direction. They should distinguish right from wrong when surrounded by diverse ideas, Wang said.

Wang also urged all political advisers to pursue the people-centered path, which ensures the vitality of the CPPCC system and the benefit of the whole process of people’s democracy in China.

Councilors should formulate proposals centered on people’s concerns and expectations, help the Party and government solve livelihood problems, and communicate national policies to people, so as to create a social atmosphere of solidarity, said Mr. .Wang.

During the annual session of the National Committee of the CPPCC which has just ended, the advisers formulated 5,979 proposals, including 38% on economic subjects and 31% on social subjects, followed by 12% on ecological civilization and 10% on political construction.
